Nantucket

For years and years Mike has been telling me how he wanted to bring me out to Nantucket. He has been there many times for work and knew I would love it. Cut to last month. Mike asked me what I wanted for my 40th birthday I sent him a link to a necklace I wanted. He saw they had a shop on Nantucket and told me, "How about I take you to Nantucket and you can pick one out yourself!" SIGN ME UP. I love a man with a good plan. We decided to do a day trip the day after our 15th wedding anniversary to celebrate both my birthday and our anniversary, and we had the absolute best time!

We shopped, did a lot of walking (the blisters on my feet can tell the tale), met my all-time favorite blogger/influencer, we ate, drank and people watched. I loved every single second of it! I've been looking for a picturesque little town just like all the cheesy shows I watch my entire life, and I think it's safe to say I found it.  Nantucket is oh so charming! I can't emphasize how much I absolutely loved it.

I was in my element...I've found my happy place! Don't I look so relaxed?
Send the kids!! We're moving!

We hopped off the ferry, went to grab some iced coffee, walked around the corner and walked directly into Shay and her youngest daughters! I have followed Shay's blog for I think 13 years. Shay's brother is Sean Lowe, yes that Sean Lowe. He was The Bachelor back in 2013! Arguably the best bachelor of the entire franchise. But I digress... I actually started following Shay back when Sean was on The Bachelorette. He was on Emily Maynard's season, who I also would say was the best bachelorette of all time. I can't remember exactly how I found Shay's blog, but I found her and have followed along ever since.

Over the years Shay and I have emailed back and forth here and there, and I've commented on her blog from time to time, but I was sure she wouldn't know who I was. On our way over I told Mike if I see her, I'm not even going to say anything. Truthfully, if I had seen her across the street or even across a restaurant I never would've walked up to her but seeing how we literally walked right into each other with no one else around I just had to say hi. And that's EXACTLY what I said to her! LOL! I said, "I have to say hi to you, I'm Kristen Sass." and before I could say I've followed your blog for years, she said "Oh my goodness! Kristen!! I'm so excited to finally meet you!!" She gave me a huge hug, and we talked for a little bit about life, the island, what her and her family were up to that day and what we were up to too. She was so sweet, as were her girls! I still cannot get over how quickly we bumped into her. Kind of a surreal experience to see someone and their family in person who you've followed online for so long, but it was really cool.

Shay gave us some great suggestions on places to check out. One being The Juice Bar. If you know Nantucket, you know this place. Their ice cream is famous! Everyone who visits Nantucket, even the most famous celebrities you can think of, stand in line at The Juice Bar to get ice cream. It was delicious.

The island wasn't nearly as busy as I thought it would be. I mean, it was busy, don't get me wrong, but I thought it would be worse with how people talk about it. I've seen people say it's not even enjoyable because it's so busy but that wasn't the case for us. We were able to get into every place we stopped in to, never stood in any lines, the shops were easy to get in and out of. I really cannot explain it, but it just felt good to be there. Everyone was so incredibly nice. I just loved the whole vibe. We were only there for the afternoon/evening, and both Mike and I agreed next time we want to explore more out of the Main Street/harbor area.

My only regret is I wish I took more pictures. I couldn't get a good picture of the cobblestone roads because there were too many cars, but we are hoping to go back in the fall. Maybe it'll be easier to get a picture then. I truly cannot wait to go back. I must win the lottery because the idea of having a place on this island to call ours seems like one of those life goals that will never happen. So yes, the lottery needs to pull my numbers. Spoiler alert: I don't even play the lottery. At least its only 2 hours from our house so we can visit as much as we want!

Mikey, thank you for the perfect day! 40 is off to a great start! Happy Anniversary!

ACK, we will be bACK! (You see what I did there?)
