Kamryn begged and begged AND begged me for a baby sister. She absolutely loves Logan. Really, they are the best of friends. Logan cries daily when Kam leaves for school and when she gets home she’s always eager to play with him immediately. There’s been times when she’s even asked to stay home, just to play with Logan. Not happening! But sweet nonetheless….
But I digress…..she wanted a baby sister more than anything. My lucky girl got TWO in just 16 months time! But, now that Kensington is 18 months old it’s really fun to see Kamryn and Kensie’s relationship blossoming.
Kamryn and Kensington share a room. At first this was a headache. Kensington wouldn’t go to sleep…she’d cry and cry and cry and therefore Kamryn couldn’t sleep. So Kamryn would cry because she was “soooo tired”. We needed a plan b. This began the process of putting Kam in our bed until Kensie fell asleep and then one of us would carry sleeping Kamryn across the hallway to bed when we went to bed. It was a pain!
But now, Kamryn goes up at the same time as Kensington and let me tell you….they have a blast!! They are both told to stay in their beds. (Kensington hasn’t tried to climb out of her crib yet…thank god!) But they play across the room from eachother. Night after night I hear giggles and teeny tiny voices and my heart just melts. And yes, they are getting sleep. Kamryn tells me that about 20 minutes into their playing Kensington just lays down and goes to sleep.
I don’t know how I did it but all my kids are AMAZING sleepers! Mike likes to give me all the credit in that department but I think we just got lucky.
My sister is 13 years younger than me, so we didn’t exactly grow up together. She always tells me I was/am like another mom. Yes, I’ve been mothering her since the day she was born. Our relationship is special and amazing but I’m a 29 year old mom of 4 and she’s a 16 year old high school sophomore. It’s different… So, I never got to experience sisters growing up close in age and what that relationship could be. Let me tell you, it’s special. Yes, I know there are going to be days they fight and “hate” eachother. But right now…I’m soaking this in while it lasts! I truly hope with all of my kids that their relationships will continue to grow and they will always remain best friends!
