Rory Gilmore & Poppy Popsicle

 

For as long as she could talk Kamryn asked me for a cat. She is beyond obsessed with cats. I continuously said no no no....we are NOT cat people. Everyone who knows Kamryn knows she loooooves cats. From family to friends to classmates to teachers, everyone knows, Kam is a cat girl! This past year has been really hard for Kamryn, and for all of us really, and I really wanted to do something to brighten her spirits. She's done so great despite all the changes and how hard its been but she's seriously the best kid and she deserves this. But we keep reminding her, these are family pets not Kamryn's pets! LOL!

A couple months ago I randomly decided to just go for it. Let's get a kitten!! I asked on Facebook if anyone knew of any kittens and nobody really did. Kittens are normally born in the Spring. My Facebook post was on a Monday. By Tuesday Mike told me I was nuts and we weren't getting a cat. I continued to look at local shelters online and even joined a kitten Facebook page. What was happening to me?!? Mike was still team no cat. Come Friday Mike came home and told me his buddy at work had just told him that his cat had kittens. By that night we were like "We'll take one!" Somehow someway we pulled off the ultimate surprise! Mike and I aren't the best at surprises somehow someway somebody slips up but NOT THIS TIME. We did it!!! Kamryn and Logan were so overwhelmed with emotions. We were all crying! Kensington and Tenley were just squealing!! It was the best!!

And I don't how it happened but somehow we ended up with 2!!

This is Rory.

Rory is playful and feisty and definitely timid. She grips on right when you pick her up. She also growls while playing with her toys which is adorable. Our roaring Rory! I've always loved the name Rory, but we never used it for a girl so why not a cat? Her middle name is self explanatory. Gilmore Girls is one of my all time favorite shows and Kamryn is loving it lately too! So Rory Gilmore it is!

And this is Poppy.

Poppy is so sweet! She loves to be held and cuddles right in when you hold her. She's so interested in everyone and very very friendly. This picture doesn't do her justice, her eyes are bright blue! So pretty! We chose the name Poppy because since Kamryn could talk she told me she wanted a cat named Poppy. So Poppy was named the second we knew we were getting a kitten. Her middle name is just cute, no real meaning! Just adorable.....and who doesn't love popsicles! Miss Poppy Popsicle! 

Gretzky and Ryker are doing great. So far we are keeping the kittens in the bathroom with a gate. Gretzky and Ryker come over periodically to check them out and thankfully its always tails wagging. Poppy and Rory have hissed at them a few times. But that's to be expected. For the most part so far they are pretty unbothered by each other. Thankfully the girls came from a house with 3 adult cats, 2 dogs and 3 kids so they are very used to a house like ours. Definitely helpful!
