Zoo

On Monday we decided to take a family trip to the zoo. It seems that its become a tradition to go in late August for us. The weather was beyond perfect and we had such a great time. Kamryn loved every single moment of the day. She is such an animal lover! If an animal was lying down she told them “nuh-night”. She blew them all kisses and even told them she loved them! She had Mike and I cracking up all day. We practiced our animal sounds with every animal we saw.

Kamryn really enjoyed the petting zoo. She was a little unsure at first but after a few minutes ready to go. All the animals were just as tall as she is. It was too cute!!

Our favorite part was the deer forest. They have a 35 acre forest and the deer roam freely. You walk through and feed the deer from your hand. What a cool experience!! I’ve only seen a deer run by my car so to be that up close and personal and actually be able to pat the deer was pretty cool. The deer were all so friendly. Kamryn loved it and so did Mike and I!

I took all the pictures and therefore did not get in any! Oh well, thats okay. I love the Kamryn and Dada shots!

We had such a great time and I cannot wait to go back next year!!

YAY!!

Today is Mikes first official day back to work!!!!
We are so relived……for now…….

The company and unions have 30 days to come to a final agreement on the new contract so please keep your fingers crossed and pray for us, and all the families that have someone employed at Verizon, that it goes smoothly and they won’t have to strike again. With Christmas and Kamryns birthday only 4 months away we can not afford to have Mike out of work.
But for right now, we are extremely happy!!!!

I will keep you all posted.

Our first trip to the dentist

I really wish I remembered to take pictures for the blog. I always forget and when I get home I am so mad at myself because I don’t have pictures to document what we did. This blog is like my baby book. I look forward to the day Kamryn will be able to read it from start to finish and will be able to see my perspective on this crazy thing we call life! I wish I had something like this to look at, especially now that I am a mother. It would be cool to see my life from the beginning and read my own mothers words on how she see’s it all happening. I take a lot of pride in it and work very hard on it. I hope everyone who reads this enjoys it as much as we do.

Yesterday we took Kamryn to her first ever dentist visit so she could get her teeth checked out. This is the only picture we took. She is in the waiting area. We decided a pediatric dentist was probably the best idea since she is so young. The whole office has an under the sea theme. Kamryn loves “fishies” so she was happy to be there. Everyone that worked there was so nice and made Kamryn and us feel very comfortable.

It went great and Kam did a wonderful job. There is no nerve damage and the teeth aren’t loose at all. For now she is stuck with the chipped teeth the way they are but when she is 3 we will fix them. Then they will do fillings which from what I understand will make her teeth look more normal. They don’t like to do it before then because it is very hard to get a young toddler to cooperate. I agree, the fall was traumatic enough!! If we did try to fix them now there would be a lot of screaming, a lot of tears and a lot of Mama and Dada holding her down. NO THANK YOU! If the dentist told us it was a necessity, then no question we would do it. But the dentist said for now she will be fine.
Phew! I feel a lot better!! It gives both of us piece of mind knowing that the only damage is what we see and that will be fixed. And just like everyone has reminded us….they are only baby teeth.
Now, we just have to get used to her “new look”.

my two chipped teeth….

Saturday we were getting ready to leave for my Dads house. I was upstairs grabbing some last minute things for the diaper bag and Mike, Kamryn and the dogs were downstairs. Kamryn ran to Mike to have him read her a book. She loves books and got so excited when she saw a “Quack-Quack” (duck) in the book she stood up, tripped over Mikes foot and fell face first into the tile floor. I heard her screaming and of course ran down the stairs to make sure she was okay. Mike said she was fine and luckily there was no blood. I wanted to make sure so I lifted up her top lip to make sure she didn’t cut open the inside of her mouth and noticed she chipped her two front teeth….I panicked!! I immediately called my Mom and asked her if there was anything we could do. At this point Kamryn has stopped crying and isn’t fazed at all! I am practically in tears and my Mom is more trying to calm me down. That’s when I remembered we had a doctors appointment coming up this week. We go to the pediatrician tomorrow and I am going to ask her if she can refer us to a dentist and then we will see what our next step should be. I have asked around and heard both, that they can’t do anything and that she could get cosmetic surgery. So we will see what they say…WISH US LUCK!!
Here is the aftermath….

Ahhh, Kamryn, you are lucky you’re so cute!

date night

With the everyday distractions of life, its hard to remember to make time for just you and your spouse. We love Kamryn with all of our hearts but we have to remember that this all started because we fell in love and we have to keep that intact in order to keep our family intact. Both of us come from divorced families and want to do everything we can to make sure that doesn’t happen to our family. For that reason, and because we enjoy it, we try to make sure we have a date night, just the two of us at least once a month and if we are lucky, once every two weeks.

With Mike on strike we have to be conservative with our money. This weekend we decided to have a date night but this time we did it at home. We had dinner as a family and put Kamryn to bed just a little bit early. Immediately after putting her to bed we grabbed the ice cream and went out on the deck. It was such a beautiful night and the ice cream cones were so yummy!!

We topped the night off watching re-runs of one of our favorite shows, “The Office”! And taking silly pictures like we used to when we first started dating.

The flash was blinding Mike. LOL!

I am such a homebody so this date night was right up my alley! I really enjoy time with just me and my husband. This might not be the answer to a happy marriage but its definitely a good start! If there is one piece of advice that seems like we hear it over and over from people who have been divorced its “make time for you and your husband/wife.” So I urge everyone to do the same. Your kids know you love them!! But trust me, they will be a lot happier and probably feel more loved if they know and see how much their parents love each other!

What have we been up to?

Just when we thought things would slow down…..It was time for Verizon to renew their contract. Well, it did not go well and Mike is now out on strike from work. He has to picket all day, rain or shine, and it runs for usually about 10 hours a day. I feel so bad for him and while I am extremely nervous and stressed I try my hardest to be supportive and let him know this too shall pass and we will be fine! People have been through a lot worse and we have to remember that this should only be temporary. Its been only a few days but we both realize how lucky Mike is to even have a job. 45,000 employees are currently out on strike. I just hope Verizon and the unions can come to an agreement on the new contract and soon!! There is no end in sight at this point and that is scary. Its really too bad because the employees don’t want to change anything but the Verizon higher ups want to take things away. Its just very very unfortunate that people can be so greedy. Hopefully it all gets resolved soon!!
But on a happier note, here is what we (well Kamryn and the dogs haha) have been up to:
Kamryn got a new chair. Which she loves!! Its awesome how she can sit at the table with us for all of our meals.

Ryker has made himself at home..I found him napping like this the other day.

Kam is enjoying bike rides..

Gretzky and Ryker have become fast friends! Such a relief!! Gretzky wasn’t crazy about Ryker at first.

And Ryker has discovered how to nap on a sunny day. He sticks the whole top half of his body under the couch. Pretty smart if you ask me!

Kamryn really wanted make sure she got all of her noodles this day…

so she decided to wear them too!

Kamryn has a new favorite show “The Fresh Beat Band”. Here she is having a snack and watching her show.

She also calls sunglasses “cool dudes”🙂
She is the coolest dude I’ve ever seen!
