I’m not exactly sure how to start this. It’s something that weighs heavy on my heart and something only those closest to me know I worry about day in and day out. Logan’s speech. He is talking, but not much. He says words like Mama, Dada, Hi, Bye, bite (when he wants to take or you to take a bite of food), nuh-night, tanky (thank you), Kare-Kare (Kamryn), doggie, Mickey, go!, bubba, whyyy (which we think he is trying to say wow, it’s SO cute!), hey, uh-oh, and that’s pretty much it. I’m sure I forgot a few but thats all I can think of off the top of my head. He mimics sounds he hears often and seems to be trying to say more and more. When I write it all down it starts to sound silly but a lot of kids his age and even younger say a lot more. Our pedi has told me time and time again as long as he is progressing and not regressing we don’t have anything to worry about. But here I am, a worried mess. When Kamryn was this age she seemed to understand more. She would answer me yes or no, tell me what she wanted, listen to simple directions and just all around seemed to be more engaged. Where as Logan, oh Logan, he is all over the place and doesn’t want to stop for even a second to listen to me and/or cares what I have to say. He whines a lot of out frustration for not being able to express himself. It’s hard for both him and I. I just want him to be okay and it’s a tad discouraging when you see these kids younger than him (he’ll be 20 months tomorrow) talking in almost full sentences. I try to be positive and I try to not worry, but it’s hard! I’ll be good for a few weeks. Convince myself everything is good and then I am right back to where I started wondering why he’s not saying more. Yes, I’ve heard boys sometimes talk later than girls and I know that Kamryn talks enough for the the both of them. Maybe, if anyone has an experience with this they can’t throw some light on the situation for me and/or give me some advice or words of encouragement. I know Logan is smart and I know chances are he will be okay…I’m just worried. That’s basically where this ends and begins. The constant worry! So this is a very short blog post but one I needed to get out. Fingers crossed the next time I talk about this Logan is saying 100 more words!!
