What have we been up to?

All I’ve been talking about recently is the pregnancy on here and I do indeed have two other kids and a husband who my whole world revolves around, so lets talk about what they’ve been up to lately, shall we?
Kamryn is now getting ready for her second (and last) year of preschool. She is so excited and cannot wait to go see her friends and teachers. It is so surreal to think next year she will be in Kindergarten. I don’t know that my mama heart can handle it. So for now, lets concentrate on preschool! This year she will be going three mornings a week instead of two. I’m so excited to see how much more she learns and grows this year. If its anything like last year she will for sure blow us away! She’s so smart and a little social butterfly! I know its going to be a great year for her!

Logan is really starting to come out of his shell. He’s talking so much more and acting like such a big boy lately! Speaking of growing, its hard to imagine how much he will grow and learn in the next year. Just in the last month he has surprised Mike and I so much with how grown up he seems. All that baby-ness is slowly going away. I guess its about time since he will be a big brother in just a couple months! He is definitely ready! We are definitely experiencing the terrible twos…but I think most of it is out of frustration because he can’t express his feelings yet. Poor little guy!

We had a great summer. We were so busy but still found the time to just chill out and enjoy the weather. This has been THE BEST summer weather wise! We only had a few days that I can think of that were unbearable and August has felt more like September! Awesome!! Comfortable temps in the 70’s has let us open the windows and let in some much needed fresh air. Rather than have the AC’s going 24/7.

The kids got a new train table, seen below. Yes, Logan likes to play ON the train table and for the most part is has turned into a play table. Any and all toys end up on there throughout the day but the kids love it! Thanks Papa!! I really need to downsize on toys though. We have so much stuff that hardly gets used so before baby gets here donating some of them is on my ever expanding to do list.

Mike is going to kill me for posting this picture but I had to! I love it! :)
Mike started a new job and is loving it! He is now working on getting his electrical license and joined the electrical union. For a long long time Mike was just miserable in his career so seeing him happy to go to work everyday is so nice. He works so hard for us, he definitely deserves it! We are so thankful for everything he does for our family.
If you know me at all, you know my FAVORITE time of year is approaching, FALL!!! Ahhh…cooler temps, leaves changing color, pumpkins, cozy decor, yummy smells, shorter days, sweaters, boots, jeans….I could go on and on. It just doesn’t get any better than Fall! AND! This year an added bonus….a sweet baby girl! (still no name)
If you want to see what we’re up to everyday just follow me on instagram @ kristen_sass. I put up daily pictures (#atouchofsass2014) and haven’t missed a day yet this year!

Robin Williams

I usually wouldn’t put something like this on my family blog but it’s weighing heavy on my heart, so here it goes:
As Mike and I discussed the passing of Robin Williams last night we talked about what a big part of our childhood he was. “Mrs Doubtfire” came out at a time when I needed it most. I was a little girl who really didn’t understand what it meant that my parents were separating. Looking back that was one of the hardest things I’ve had to go through but even at 7, this quote said at the very end of “Mrs Doubtfire” helped me to understand better what was going on: “You know, some parents, when they’re angry, they get along much better when they don’t live together. They don’t fight all the time, and they can become better people, and much better mummies and daddies for you. And sometimes they get back together. And sometimes they don’t, dear. And if they don’t, don’t blame yourself. Just because they don’t love each other anymore, doesn’t mean that they don’t love you. There are all sorts of different families, Katie. Some families have one mommy, some families have one daddy, or two families. And some children live with their uncle or aunt. Some live with their grandparents, and some children live with foster parents. And some live in separate homes, in separate neighborhoods, in different areas of the country – and they may not see each other for days, or weeks, months… even years at a time. But if there’s love, dear… those are the ties that bind, and you’ll have a family in your heart, forever. All my love to you, poppet, you’re going to be all right… bye-bye.” Robin Williams was a man who helped so many people. He made us laugh and he made us cry but most importantly, he made us feel alive. It’s a shame he was hurting so deeply. As someone who lost a dear friend to suicide a long time ago I know it’s true, those who laugh the loudest or act the goofiest are sometimes hurting in ways we could never understand. I hope Robin has found peace and knows how much joy he brought to so many people in all parts of the world! Yesterday, we lost one of the greats, and he will be truly missed!

25 Weeks

25 weeks down …. 15 (or less) to go?!?!?
We’re getting into the uncomfortable part of pregnancy. I’m ready for November to get here and for us to meet our sweet girl. It’s funny, I’ve only gained 8 lbs (the least amount I gained with all 3 of my babies at this point), but this time around I feel more uncomfortable than I remember feeling with Kamryn and Logan. So, if I’ve said it once I’ll say it a million times…this is our last baby! Mama is tired!!
How far along: 25 weeks
Gender: a baby girl named Elliot Bree (I think)
Weight gain: 8 lbs
Maternity clothes: You know it!
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep:  Really good! Not even waking up to pee, which is AWESOME! I need as much sleep as I can get! Kamryn’s sleep on the other hand is a whole other story. She is giving me a run for my money lately!
Best moment this week:  We had a rainy weekend with temps in the 60s. It was a nice break from the heat and made things much more comfortable for me.
Miss anything: My feet not being swollen…I’m thankful for flip flops! And foot rubs from Mikey!
Movement: Yes! Sometimes it feels like she’s doing flips in there.
Cravings:  Baked mac n cheese
Queasy or sick: Nope but this heartburn is KILLING me! If she’s anything like her brother and sister she’ll be born with a full head of hair! (yay for bows!!)
Looking forward to: Making the final decision on which new carseats to get for the kiddos. To avoid Mama driving a mini-van we found out we need 3 new carseats so all 3 kids can fit in the back seat safely and securely. After a lot of research I realized the 3 seats we have aren’t going to fit and be able to be secured correctly but luckily I have a few options. I hate to spend the money when I already have enough carseats for K, L and E, but 3 new carseats is a lot less expensive than a new car payment!

After much anticipation….we have a baby name!!

Okay, maybe no one anticipated this or cared but oh well…..I feel it’s important to let you all know her name.
After much back and forth (thanks pregnancy hormones), Mike and I have decided to go with our original choice….Elliot Bree.
It’s funny how whacked out crazy pregnancy can make you. We’ve known since before we were pregnant with Logan that if we had another girl her name would be Elliot. Fast forward to a couple months ago and we started to second guess our decision. We entertained many names over the past 6 months. With each name feeling like, okay this could be it, but for whatever reason we’d change our mind. It took to me thinking about that first moment that I see the baby and truth be told, I can’t imagine calling her anything else but Elliot. So I know with 100% certainty that she’s our Elli!
Majority of people we’ve told love the name we’ve chosen, others, I think, weren’t sure at first but it’s grown on them and there are some who just do not like it at all. But you know what? That’s okay! I’d be lying if I told you I liked every name everyone else has chosen for their babies. But that’s what makes the world go round! How boring would life be if we all liked the same things and gave our babies the same names? B O R I N G!!!

So, Elliot Bree it is…Elli for short! And in just 15 weeks or less she will be here! I can’t wait to meet this baby!! She looks pretty damn perfect in her ultrasound picture, if you ask me! And I think her name is going to suit her perfectly!
