Kamryn's First Day Of School

Today Kamryn starts 1st grade. I can hardly believe the time has come for full day school.
It’s been a mix of emotions for me, mostly sad. It hit me last night as I was packing her a lunch for the first time. For 6.5 years I’ve had her with me and have only had to “share her” for a half day of school. Now? She will be gone from 8:30-3:30. It’s only 10am and I already miss her so much!
But….I am so proud of her and I know she’s going to do great. She was a little nervous this morning but mostly super excited. I just know she’s going to have a great year! I may be a little bias, but her teacher is lucky to have her. Kamryn is a sweet kid, she makes friends easily, she’s polite, loves to learn and is just so ready for this next chapter in her life.
Logan, Kensington, Tenley and I all walked her to the bus stop….the bus was a half-hour late (HA!)….we gave hugs and kisses and waved goodbye as our big sis took off for her first full day of school! I am so anxiously awaiting hearing about her day!!
Just another big day in the books for our family!
We love you Kamryn Sass!!
And we love you Auntie!! Happy first day of Junior Year!

Here are just some random pictures I’ve taken with my phone over the past couple of weeks.
Miss Tenley LOVES the exersaucer!
And Miss Kamryn LOVES herself some baby Tenley
I cannot believe the summer is coming to an end. Lexi and Kamryn go back to school a week from tomorrow. How can this be?!?! Yes, they drive me crazy pretty much every single day but I’m going to miss them while they are are school all day so much!
Speaking of going back to school. Kamryn was spoiled rotten with back to school loot!
Thank you Pappi and GranDee!!
Kamryn is going into the first grade and this is her first year of full day school. She’s nervous, I’m nervous … it’s going to be a major adjustment! Ready or not (I’m leaning towards the not), first grade here we come!!!
And to top of a very special day we went and met Baby JJ!
Congratulations Annie and Marcus!!
Kensington oh Kensington …. you are one goofy kid!
I took these last two pictures today as we were on out way out the door to run a couple errands.
Listen, it is what it is…..I’ll take what I can get!
Luckily these kids are cute so any picture, even ones where they aren’t all looking, will do!🙂
LOVE THEM!!!!
My crazies!!

Kamryn, Logan, Kensington & Tenley

It’s funny….I have this blog and because I have it I often feel like I should share everything. Okay, maybe not everything. I want this to be somewhere my kids can look back and see what a joy they were (and hopefully still are) to their father and I.
Kamryn, Logan, Kensington and Tenley-you are the light of our life.
Kamryn-you really are my “biggest helper”. Always there to calm one of the babies and always willing to distract, one or two so I can get something done. Yes, sometimes you get upset all the attention isn’t on you but you surprise me day after day with your patience. You love babies just as much as your mama. You’re even crazy enough to think I should have anther baby! Which just goes to show how big your heart is. You don’t get as much attention as you used to but even still, you’d love to add more love to our family. Kamryn Sass you are something special.
Logan-my lonely lonely boy. Smack dab in the middle of all this pink and sparkle. But so much a B-O-Y boy! You love to get dirty, you love animals, cars and trucks, dinosaurs, super heroes and anything that screams boy. This past weekend we went to you Papa’s house and you got the biggest kick out of watching your dad rough-house with your uncles. For a split second it made me wish you had a brother. Truth is, I don’t think I could handle two of you. You are WILD in all the best ways possible. One of you is just enough.
Kensington-you are sugar and spice and everything nice….just not between the hours of 4 and 7. When she is tired and hungry…watch out!! Everyday people are in awe over how happy and goofy you are. So sweet and SO funny! You love your brother and sisters so much and especially love your Daddy. You get giddy over clothes, shoes and bows. I think its safe to say you are our girly girl. Your big green eyes are turning brown, your blondish hair seems to be getting curlier and that smile of yours is only getting bigger!
Tenley-I don’t know if I could possibly explain it any better than saying you are THE. BEST. BABY. EVER. You sleep 12 hours a night and nap 2-3 times a day. You have the sweetest laugh I ever did hear and just seem to always be taking in the world around you. So interested and alert you always want to be right in the middle of the action that is our everyday life. Tenley you really do complete our family. You came quicker than I ever expected but you, my love, are EXACTLY what I prayed for.

10 Random Facts About Me

1. I am obsessed with popcorn. I eat it almost every single day.
2. I would seriously consider putting up my Christmas decorations the day after Halloween but Mike would never allow that. I still put them up before Thanksgiving….well, unless we are hosting Thanksgiving, then I’m forced to wait.
3. I have no plans, NONE, to have anymore babies but I still have names in the vault. If my brother and sister are lucky maybe I’ll share them in 6,000 years when they have kids.
4. Speaking of baby names, I STILL look at Kensington and wonder if we made the right decision changing her name. Seriously….I think I need therapy over this.
5. I couldn’t live without music. It runs in my blood. We listen to music all the time in the Sass house. I think it’s safe to say when my kids grow up 2 things will make them think of home….a candle burning at all times and music playing.
6. I am the worst person to watch a tv series with. I tend to give up on them after a few season. I get burnt out and never ever finish them. This happens with both binge watching on Netflix and watching a series in real time on cable.
7. I can only drink something if it is ice cold. Kamryn has totally inherited this trait. If a drink gets left out and is even close to room temperature we can’t even drink it. Down the drain it goes.
8. I am TERRIBLE at the grocery store. Mike is awesome! He remembers coupons, sticks to the list, makes sure things are on sale. Me? Well let me just tell you this story: Mike grocery shops and usually spends $175-$210 a week. I went ONCE and it was over $400. $400!!! Yeah, I’m not allowed to go anymore.
I’m a much better clothes shopper than he is though. I never ever buy anything that isn’t on sale and/or without a coupon code.
9. I only wash my hair once a week, sometimes twice depending on what we’re doing. No, it doesn’t get greasy. And I only blow dry my hair about 10 times a year. (That’s just an estimate.) Yes, a year. Probably less. My hair is extremely curly. With every baby it’s only gotten more curly. I used to straighten the crap out of my hair but my hair ended up SO unhealthy! I’ve learned my hair works best when I let it air dry and then curl it with my curling wand. Sometimes it looks great, sometimes it’s a hot mess but it’s my hair and I’m starting to except it.
10. Everyday I wake up and read my daily devotional. Life is tough and reading one bible verse a day helps me so much. It’s also pretty cool because it always seems to be EXACTLY what I need to hear. I need this time and my family needs me at my best. Doing this definitely helps keeps me grounded.
Now that you know the most random things about me….you can continue with your day! Thanks for reading along…..

Florida Georgia Line

On Friday Zack, Lexi, Mike and I went to see Florida Georgia Line in concert. We had the best time!! Opening for them was Kane Brown (who we didn’t get to see), The Cadillac Three (who we LOVE!! They are definitely Mike’s favorite band) and Cole Swindell. It was an awesome show!!
We had the best time! Like I said, TC3 is Mike’s favorite band. Honestly, that’s how I convinced him to come to the concert. We originally saw them, believe it or not, at my cousins wedding. My cousins husband Dan has pretty much the coolest job ever, and I’m not really sure of his exact title but he works with the Josh Abbott Band…I think he’s technically part of the band. (Steph-if you’re reading this you can help me out!! LOL!) So, through work he became friends with TC3 and the rest is history! I don’t know if it gets any cooler than seeing my cousin looking gorgeous in her wedding gown and cowboy boots rocking out to The Cadillac Three with the love of her life! SO COOL!! Also, how spoiled are all of we that we got to experience that?!?!

Cole Swindell and Florida Georgia Line both put on a great show! I would go see them again and again and again. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say, even Mike is a fan now. We had a blast!!
Thank you Zack for treating us to a great night out! We owe you BIG TIME!! Love you!!

3 Random Things That Are Making Me Smile

There’s been a lot of stuff happening lately that haven’t made me smile but I think it’s so important to stay positive, even through the rough times. So here are some random things that are making me smile…
1. This weather!!! OMG! It’s been gorgeous! It’s no secret I LOVE Fall and this week it’s felt a bit Fallish. It really just makes my heart go pitter patter. I don’t want to wish away the last month of Summer by any means but really, is there anything better than Fall?!?! (Random Fact: when Labor Day hits I bring out the Fall decor. Whether it’s 50 degrees or 80 degrees. It’s Fall in my eyes!)
2. If you haven’t ever paid for someone’s coffee in a drivethru I highly recommend you do so. Listen, I go to dunks at least once a day (sometimes two….it’s SO BAD!) and I’ve never paid for someone’s coffee. I hear about this being done all the time and thought it was so great but I always kind of froze up when I thought about doing so. So, yesterday when I pulled up to the window I noticed a police officer pulled up behind me. I just knew I had to pay for his coffee! I really hope it made him smile and feel appreciated. It absolutely made my day! The cool thing about paying it forward is it makes you feel just as good, if not better, than the person receiving the “gift”. The Sass family is extremely thankful for all our police officers do to keep us safe every single day!
3. My house. Yesterday I was walking home from dropping Kamryn off for a play date at our neighbors house. I looked up, saw our house and thought about how blessed we are. Life is crazy, stressful, hectic and fast. I hardly get a moment to sit back and think of all I’m thankful for. This house — makes me so thankful. For all the people who live in it, all the love in it and all the memories we create in it.
My hope for you is that you can pick out 3 random things that are making you smile today! In the hustle and bustle of life it’s easy to become consumed in the negatives. We’ve got to change that. SMILE! Be happy!! It’s the little things that matter. The good deeds that can be done for others, or that someone does for you. The roof over our head (Thank God). The weather! I’m learning how important it is to be grateful for everything I have. Most days are tough. I lose my patience way more than I should and I find myself getting wrapped up in things that didn’t go my way or all the things we don’t have. On those days I go to bed sad and I truly feel lonely. Going to bed last night and thinking of those 3 things, 3 silly little things, made me feel so great! I think I’m going to start a new routine for myself. Every night think of 3 things that made me smile that day. I encourage you to do the same! #smile :-)

The Sass Sircus

I decided to change my blog name. As my brother so kindly put it….as a family of 6, its no longer “A Touch Of Sass” we really are a 3 ring circus. (We just don’t abuse elephants….)
We recently got new neighbors and the other morning as I pulled into my driveway, after running some errands, my new neighbor was working on his yard. His house is around the corner but his back yard is directly across the street from our driveway. I ran in the house very quickly to use the bathroom (Lexi was in the car with the kids). It was just one of those mornings, before I got the kids out I had to pee. With 4 kids…sometimes it can take awhile to get everyone out. But I digress, as I was coming back outside to get everyone out of the car the dogs got out. I came out screaming “GRETZKY!!” “RYKER!!” “GET IN THE HOUSE!!” “LEXI!! HELP ME!!!” I hear someone crying and I yell: “LEXI!! WHERE IS KENSINGTON?!?” Lexi took her out of the car and then put her down when she heard me yelling in a panic about the dogs. Poor Kensington somehow fell down in the driveway. At this point my neighbor is just standing across the street staring at us in disbelief. I scoop up Kensington, open the door and Logan and Kamryn jump out. They are fighting about something, who knows what. Probably because they don’t want to carry in the 6,000 toys they brought for the ride and are yelling at the other one to take them. I just let them argue, its whatever. They’ll figure it out. I then take Tenley out whos hungry and also crying. I swear I hear clown music in my head whenever I unload these kids from my car. A Honda Pilot, which is still much too small for us….and no! I won’t be getting a minivan.
Here we are!!! The Sass Sircus!! Welcome to the neighborhood. Oh, you thought it was quiet around these parts? Sorry about that. It hasn’t been quiet around here for a little bit. Really, not since I added 3 kids to my family in only 3.5 years! Whoops! Hope you like kids!!
Our neighbors do seem really nice and they have twin gandsons Kamryn’s age who spend weekends with them…so luckily they do like kids! But it was in that moment I realized I am that crazy lady who my neighbors look at and say: “Oh that’s Kristen Sass …. she has like a bazillion kids.” Yep! That would be me!
So from here on out….we are “The Sass Sircus”!!
Kuddos to my husband for coming up with the name.
Love you!! Thanks for being our ring leader!
