Lake Day 2017

First of all, I want to wish my dad a very happy birthday!
If you have the pleasure of knowing my dad then you know he is one of a kind. He is truly the BEST person on the planet. I know I'm incredibly biased but ask anyone who knows him, they'll agree.
Happy Birthday Peege! Love you!

Over the weekend we had our annual lake day down at Paulette's house. The Sasses talk about this day all year round. It truly is the best day of the year (a tie with the 4th of July). Lot's of boating, lots of swimming, lots of skiing and tubing, lots of relaxing, lots of AMAZING food. SO MUCH FUN.

Kensington LOVES the lake. She was adamant that she would run up and down the dock. Which was obviously not the smartest idea. We kept telling her "slow slow", but you know two year olds. They are determined. At one point she went to turn around, lost her balance and fell straight back into the water. She had her life jacket on, so she was fine. After the immediate shock of it all she recovered pretty quickly and was back to wanting to run. Meanwhile, Mike and I were all shooken up. Isn't that always the way?

My boys <3 <3

Uncle Jim and Emily came too!

That's my Uncle Steve's dog, Allie, back there. She is so protective of the kids. Every time one of them would swim out past her liking she would bark and bark until they came back in. It was so cute! Our own private lifeguard.

My cautious Kamryn. We finally got her to go on the boat for the last run of the night and she LOVED it! I'm so happy she did it and liked it because leading up to it she wanted nothing to do with it. I knew she'd love it if she just did it, it was just getting her out there. Now nothing is going to hold her back!!

Meanwhile, Logan and Kensington couldn't get enough of the boat.

Time out --- with Pappi and Uncle Zacky. HA!

We got a chance to celebrate Pappi's birthday, too.

We spent the entire day there, changed the kids into their pj's and it was right to bed when we got home. Tenley slept until after 10 the next morning. I think she was tired!! LOL!

Thank you Paulette for a great day!! Trust me when I say the Sass kids are going to be counting down the days until they can do this again next year!

What a great way to wrap up out summer. The kids start school next week and we're working on getting back into a good school routine.

They got their postcards with their teachers names on them and they are super excited!!

Here we come kindergarten and 2nd grade!!!!

That couple with "seven" kids....

It's not a secret, we have a big family. Mike and I get asked a lot if we are crazy. To which we smile and laugh. You know, maybe we are. Maybe we are downright crazy!! I mean really, who would want 4 beautiful, happy, healthy, amazing kids in their life, right? That right there is for sure the definition of "crazy" if you ask me. ;-)

The other night before Mike and I went to sleep we were talking about our big family. We talked about how whenever we are all out together we get looks from strangers with faces of shock. How we are known as the couple who has a bunch of kids. How when people ask us if we have any kids and we say four we always get the same response. And we both agreed that it makes us laugh because to us, this is us. It's not a lot of kids...it's Kamryn, Logan, Kensington and Tenley.

Mike and I are THAT couple. This has come to define we we are...and guess what?!? I like the definition! I love having a big family. I cannot imagine a life without all these kids.

A couple weeks ago we went to Mike's company family party. We brought Kamryn and Logan with us and left the babies home with Auntie. We thought it would be nice to do something different and fun with them since they are always so patient when we are busy at home with life and the little ones. Everyone I met wondered where the other kids were and they all said "You guys have like seven kids, right?" For some reason SEVEN was the number they all kept saying. It cracked me up! No, we don't have seven...four, but sometimes it sure does feel like seven.

I used to let people's comments bother me. I've even done blog posts here and there about it. I don't anymore. I realize there's a lot worse things I could be doing than having a big family. A LOT WORSE. At the end of the day we are a big happy family and there's nothing wrong with that. Truth is, there would be no big Sass family without this love that Mike and I share. I'm feeling sentimental today for some reason, and I'm not sure why, but I really hit the jackpot when Mike came into my life. I was only 19 and had no idea the adventure our life would turn into. If you were to ask me 11.5 years ago what my dreams were, they would've come up so short compared to what I have today. I am one lucky girl and I wouldn't trade this life for anything.

So I'll take the title of "That couple with seven kids" any day. I'll wear it proudly and I'll never be ashamed of it. If having a big family is wrong, then I don't want to be right. :)

I hope you all have a great day!! xoxoxo

Back 2 School Clothes

I know I know....but whether we like it or not it's coming.

Back. To. School.

I can't believe this year I'm going to have 2 kids in full time school!!! How in the world did time pass by so quickly?!

I swear they were just this size yesterday.

Now, they are all grown up.
Well, I guess "all grown up" is a relative term - I guess grown up's don't pout for a half hour because their brother got into their stuff and I guess grown up's don't cry when their lego's fall apart. Whatever, they are basically all grown up. ;-)

Back to school means back to school clothes! Yes, I've already started shopping. Kamryn's first day of school is August 30th and Logan's is the 31st. So, we're just a month away from that. I've been looking for sales and just the other day I bought them a bunch of stuff to get us started.

I tend to go for Fallish clothes. I know it's hot when they go back and at least for a month it's still going to be hot BUT after that it gets cold. The seasons change so quickly here. One day it's 80 and then next it's 50. So I tend to buy a lot of pants and long sleeves, with a few short sleeves mixed in there. They're, whoever "they" are, are predicting a very warm Fall for us. Let's see what happens.

Logan will wear pretty much whatever I put him in. Boys, at least my boy, are so easy like that. I know this may change someday so I'm having fun with it this year. For Logan, as usual, it's all about comfort.

I bought Logan all pants that he doesn't have to zip and button because, let's be honest, he hasn't mastered that just yet. He's trying...my sweet sweet boy, he's trying so hard but I usually get a yell from the bathroom to come help him. I can't expect his teacher to do that so pants he can pull up are exactly what I was looking for. I'm a huge fan of jeans so I was extremely thankful to find Old Navy has jeans that don't have buttons and zippers! YESSS!!! I was slightly worried it would be cargo pants and sweats all year for my boy.

I bought THESE jeans for Logan in two different colors. I might need to get some more because I'm sure these are going to be our go to.

I also got him THESE in a couple different colors. The camo ones will go with pretty much anything! LOVE camo -- I even got myself a pair of camo pants to wear this fall. :-)

Shirts like THESE are great for little boys. They will be comfy but still look put together. Isn't that usually the goal with little boys?

You also can't go wrong with shirts like THIS either. Boys are MESSY, no matter how you spin it. So dress them for fun, a little mess and you won't be disappointed.

Logan needs an easy sneaker he can slip on. He isn't even remotely interested in tying his shoes. I try. I've bought little toys to make it fun, tried the whole egg carton thing. Nope. Isn't having it. Whatever, he has his whole life to tie his shoes. Pick your battles right?

I love THESE for Logan.

I haven't gotten him any shoes yet but I really think we'll go with something like the shoes pictured above. I need something that neutral in color and style. Casual but can be dressed up with nice jeans and a button down

Now, Kamryn is super picky about what she wears. Like mother like daughter. I can't tell you how many times she's been gifted outfits, or I've bought her something, and when I try to put them on her she tells me she doesn't like it. It's got to be the age...well, that or a girl thing. I'll go with the latter. So, she's been with me every step of the way buying clothes this year. I'd rather not deal with that argument at 7am everyday.

THIS DRESS screams Kamryn. I can see it with boots, booties, flats and even sneakers.

As always, we buy some coordinating leggings to go with our dresses. Think I can still dress her in dresses and leggings when she's 16? Don't answer that....
I always go for the full length ones. If you live in the North East that's smart. If you live down South a cropped legging may be more practical for your little girl.

I tend to buy her 3 or 4 dresses and then different leggings I can mix and match with the dresses.

Kamryn loves jeans but ONLY if they are super super skinny. If they are even remotely baggy she tells me they are "boy pants" and will fight me on wearing them. I don't know what we are going to do if these go out of style. So, we stick to the Old Navy Ballerina Jeans. They are the perfect fit for her and super comfy. I usually buy her two pairs and then rotate between the dresses and leggings. Jeans tend to be her gym day go to. You can find the above ones HERE.

Kamryn also likes blouses. Again, her mothers child. We'll buy her a few blouses because Kamryn is a girly girl and loves to wear pretty clothes. She's just not a t-shirt kinda girl.

THIS ONE is adorable. It looks pretty but not too grown up.

HERE is a great option for a casual top. Kamryn has actually asked for this one in multiple colors. It's got a little more going on than your standard t-shirt so this is something she will go for.

I linked up some shoes above under the dress that we've been eyeing for Kamryn. Isn't it so funny how different girls and boys are? Kamryn needs at least 3 pairs of shoes and Logan will be set with 1. My husband will never understand this but let's just say he is in TROUBLE with 3 daughters!

The jury is still out as to if I'll be able to talk Kamryn into wearing hair bows this year. I have a feeling it'll be mostly headbands or nothing at all (my strong willed girl) but we'll see.

That's pretty much it. We keep it pretty basic and casual over here.

And because it was all pretty much Old Navy stuff that I linked up today I wanted to mention you can get 35% off online today on top of their already discounted items too! All baby and kids are up to 50% off! The 35% discount will automatically be added to your cart. So let's get shopping!!!

I find myself so torn lately. On one hand I'm really excited for cooler weather, shorter days (because I'm weird like that), a better daily routine and Fall clothes. I absolutely LOVE the Fall! But on the other hand I am so sad to have Logan go to full time school. Kamryn went to half day Kindergarten and last year was her first year of full time school as a first grader. So I'm being hit two years in a row! I can't believe it! My baby boy! I am definitely that mom who misses her kids so much when they go to school. I don't think I'll ever be the mom cheersing with a mimosa at the bus stop on the first day of school. I am always filling up with tears and can't believe they are a year older. Luckily I have two cuties to keep me busy at home for a few more years....but we will surely miss Kamryn and Logan. Before I know it Kensington and Tenley are going to be in full time school too. What will I ever do with myself then?!?!

We go back before Labor Day and then have an extra long weekend. When do your kids go back to school? I'm also looking for fun back to school traditions now that I'll have two in school. If you have any I'd love to hear about them in the comments!

Happy Back to School!!!!
