Five on Friday

Hey there! Today is my first of (hopefully many) Five on Friday's!

We've got the most random list of things that have no rhyme or reason. Let's get right to it!

One.

On New Years Eve we celebrated Kamryn turning 15!! Can you believe it?! She is growing into the most wonderful young lady who we are so incredibly proud of. She's figuring out who she is right before our eyes and it's so cool to sit back and watch. I posted a reel of her growing up on Instagram and Facebook for her birthday and I can't watch it without tearing up. If you haven't, go take a look. In some ways it feels like it's been the longest 15 years of my life (because it's hard to picture life before Kam) and in others it's been the fastest. One thing's for sure it's been the best 15 years of my life! Happiest Birthday Kamryn!

Two.

This one is super random but, in all fairness, I did warn you these 5 things would be random. So, I have pretty wild hair. It's very wavy/curly and super super thick. Truly, it's unreal just how much hair I have. I'm currently growing it out (stay tuned, you know I always do a chop at a certain point) and I cannot pull my hair up without it giving me a headache because it's so heavy. But sometimes, mama needs her hair up. Anyone else feel like their hair needs to be up before they can tackle that todo list? Claw clips tend to work without giving me a headache, but it's been hard to find some that will hold up all this hair. However! I found some that work! I love the neutral colors that'll go with everything!

I kind of just toss my hair up like this, sometimes I twist it in and make it a little less wild, but usually it's just messy and undone like this.

Thank you, Amazon! These clips are great, super cheap, were on my doorstep the same day I ordered them and look cute. You can find them HERE

Three.

I mentioned a few weeks ago I was going to start concentrating on my health and wellness more in 2025. This could be a whole blog post and will be but I'm happy to report I've been implementing some healthy changes and I'm really proud of myself. Now, the name of the game is progress not perfection and honestly, I'm not getting on my peloton nearly as much as I hoped, and it's been frigidly cold outside. I'm not interested in freezing to death to get some steps in (no I didn't get the walking pad for Christmas lol) BUT! I get it in when I can...and that's all I can ask for right now. Sometimes that means I can only do a 10-minute ride on the peloton, sometimes that means a nice long walk around the neighborhood with Smith and Archie, sometimes that means a quick yoga class.... (like I attempted yesterday. For some reason above my left knee is very sore and bending, twisting and stretching hurts so I had to cut that yoga class VERY short. But after some rest and heat I know it'll feel better. I must've slept weird or something, who knows?) Sometimes that means the only thing I did that was "active" is take care of my 6 kids. I don't have a routine when it comes to working out at all, but I would like to, and I know that will come. My workouts are all really short right now, but I keep telling myself it's better than nothing. Archie has been very finicky lately, isn't sleeping that well and wants to be with his mama 24/7. He's sitting on my lap as I type this. So, I'm constantly reminding myself this stage with Archie won't last forever, I'm rolling with it.

100 Ways to Live a Soft, Calm Life

I started reading this book recently and I'm really enjoying it. I purchased it a while ago and unfortunately it got put in a pile, eventually ended up in Archie's room (which had turned into the drop everything room while he slept in our room), and I totally forgot about it until the other day when I was cleaning out his room and came across it. I read a new number every morning to start my day, sometimes two. Every thing is a little simple practice, numbered 1 to 100, that you can add to your everyday in hopes you will live a happier less stressful life. It's a really cute book and has some really good advice, and I've already started implementing some of it into my every day. So, I definitely recommend! You can find it HERE

Five.

Do you have a comfort show? I have 2. One Tree Hill will forever be number 1! I LOVE that show. I've seen is a million times. If something is going wrong in my life, the only answer is One Tree Hill. Someday I will go to Wilmington, North Carolina and check out all the spots where it was filmed. Kamryn and I recently started watching it together at night before bed. She loves it and is hooked. Like mother like daughter. My other comfort show is Sweet Magnolias on Netflix. A new season is coming out next month and I am SO excited! However, I've seen seasons one through three probably three or four times. It makes me wish I had girlfriends like Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue. I think I'll put it on for background noise when I fold laundry later. That's not even touching the surface on shows I've rewatched over and over. Another favorite is Friday Night Lights. Honestly, Friday Night Lights might tie with One Tree Hill for the number one spot. I once read people with anxiety like watching shows and movies they've seen before because of the predictability and my life has never made more sense. LOL! What are your comfort shows or movies? Tell me in the comments.

Okay, I hope you all have a great weekend! I'll see you back here next week! :)
