Spring Clothes .... for your TODDLER BOY

Happy Wednesday!!

Today I'm going to be talking about Spring clothes for your toddler boy. It's all about Logan's style on Kris Krumbs & Co. today!!

Logan is ALL BOY. He loves to be outside and he loves to get dirty. I love dressing him up in nice button downs and cute skinny jeans but Logan ruins clothes. So, in the Spring/Summer its whatever is easiest. It is what it is!

I like shorts with an elastic waist for Logan. They make it easier for him to dress himself and easier when its time to go to the potty. Buttons are just too much work. You're going to find there will be a theme here on this blog and that's making life easier. With 4 kids I need all the help I can get!!

Year after year I find myself buying Logan a pair of camo shorts. First of all they go with EVERYTHING. He can wear a bright orange graphic t-shirt and it'll look great with these shorts or a plain navy blue shirt and it'll look just as good. Just like with the girls and their leggings that I like to mix and match I like doing the same thing with Logan's t-shirts and shorts. Second of all they cover a multitude of sins. Like I said before, Logan likes to get dirty and on a camo short you can't see the stains as much. Plus, they are so so cute! I have a slight obsession with camo....in a total not redneck kind of way! ;)

Logan would not be Michael Sass' son IF he did not have a pair of bright colored shorts.

This type of shorts are a staple in my house for the boys. Again, they can go with a ton of different tops AND they can take a simple outfit and make it more fun! You see, I don't wear that much color. I'm working on it but I tend to stick to black, grey, navy blue and white but my husband sure does and I make sure my kids do too.

Every little boy needs a pair of flat front khaki shorts for those times when you need to dress them up a little bit. Cook outs, birthday parties, christenings, first communions...etc etc. These are a must!

I love graphic tee's on little boys. They are a cute way to play off their personality a bit. However, I'm not a fan of character clothes. I know I know....I'm a mean mom! You won't see my kids walking around in a Mickey Mouse t-shirt unless we are at Disney World. But, just to contradict myself, Logan has been known to wear a batman or superman shirt from time to time. I guess I just have my limits.

The shirt above is from Carters and is TOTALLY Logan. He loooove dinosaurs. And its only $7.

You'll see Logan in a lot of striped shirts. Mama LOOOOVES stripes. These types of shirts are handsome and comfy. He looks put together without be uncomfortable. This shirt would look great with those flat front khakis for a cook out.

Collard shirts are always a must as well! He could wear this with any of the shorts above.

Now on to shoes....

Logan is obsessed with his rain boots right now. I have no idea how long that'll last but if I had my way he'd be wearing these.

He's either barefoot or in those rain boots but on the rare occasion he's not  he'll wear an Old Navy flip flop or some flat slip on sneakers. Simple. No fuss. Easy. Handsome.

If it's chilly I throw a zip up hoodie on Logan and some jeans but really he's a short and t-shirt boy. Boy after my own heart. He's like his mama and asks almost daily if we can move somewhere that its always warm. It can be 50 degree's out and that boy wants to be in shorts. I can usually get him to at least throw on a hoodie.

Everything pictured and what I linked here is either from Old Navy, Carters or Target. See....I told you I stick to the same stores for all the kids. With Logan I go for comfort but I like him to look put together at the same time.

Right now if you have Old Navy SUPER CASH remember to use that and if not there is a coupon code on their site for 20% off and another coupon code for free shipping on orders over $25. Which is awesome because usually you can't get free shipping unless you spend $50.

On that note, I'm going to head over there and see what I can find for Logan!

Have a great day!!!

Italian Quesadilla :: Krumbs Eats ::

I don't know about you but I am always ALWAYS looking for quick easy meals that my whole family will love. That's not an easy task with 4 kids. Everyone has a preference and everyone has an opinion. But every once in awhile you hit gold....and I'm not talking Kraft Mac n Cheese.

Let's talk quesadillas. Quesadillas are something that everyone can choose what they want. They take no time at all to make and everyone in the family can enjoy them. They are a great lunch and/or dinner.

The kids prefer a just a plain cheese quesadilla. I prefer mine with cheese chicken and sometimes I'll dice up some onion and tomato in there too and Mike wants a whole slew of things in his! The more stuff the better! I've also been known to make an Italian quesadilla and that just makes my husbands Italian heart go pitter patter. I'm not a huge fan of bringing my kids in the kitchen (I lack the patience for that) but, at the same time, I know its really important to get them in the kitchen. These are the perfect thing to have them help you with. Especially if you want them to choose for themselves what they want in the quesadilla.

Since it was such a hit with my husband, today I'm going to share my spin on an Italian quesadilla. It kind of sounds like an oxymoron but trust me its delicious!!

Ingredients:

  • 2 small Tortillas
  • 2 cooked chicken tenderloins (cut into bite sized pieces)
  • 1/2 a cup of baby spinach leaves
  • 4 slices of tomato (cut into bite sized pieces)
  • 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese (or more if you like a lot of cheese, I don't blame you)
  • 1 tablespoon of basil pesto

Instructions:

  1. Lightly grease a small frying pan and place over a medium heat.
  2. Place one of the tortillas into your frying pan and add the sliced chicken, sliced tomato, baby spinach leaves, and mozzarella cheese.
  3. Spread the basil pesto over one side of the remaining tortilla and place on top of the tortilla already in the pan.
  4. Cook the Quesadilla for 3 minutes or until the tortilla begins to brown before carefully flipping over and cooking for another 3 - 4 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the tortilla has browned.
  5. Eat up!!!

YUM! I hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think....

Spring Clothes .... for your BIG GIRL

Hi there! I was going to do this all as one post for my three girls but I quickly realized it would be way too long. So today I'm going to talk Spring clothes for your big girls, or in my case my 7 year old Kamryn. Then I'll do little boys Spring clothes and after that I'll finish up the kids Spring clothes must haves with toddler girls. Phew! This is going to be fun!!!

Okay, today lets talk Spring clothes for your big girls.

I'm a huge fan of getting the biggest bang for your buck. In my world the best way to do that is layers and staple pieces that'll last you at least 2 years. For the kids I keep it pretty simple. Majority of their clothes are from Old Navy, Target and Carters. Occasionally I'll buy them something from somewhere else but I find that is wear I can find the best sales and the best quality for the price. Plus, kids ruin clothes. They get grass stains you can't get out, food stains, rips, etc etc. I don't sweat it if I didn't spend a lot on their clothes.

Now, on to Spring clothes for your big girl...

Kamryn is a huge fan of dresses all year round. It's really hard to get her into anything but a dress. So I just follow her lead. In the winter I really try to dress her warm and forego dresses as much as I can but in the Spring its game on!Every Spring I like to update her closet with just a few things....

Dresses like this:

Kamryn can wear this straight through the Spring and well into the Summer, as well. This dress is just $15 at Carters right now. We got it on sale for only $10 a couple weeks ago.

In Spring I pop a cute jean jacket over it. Kamryn has worn the same jean jacket for 3 years. Yes, 3 years. It started off too big and we rolled up the sleeves, then it fit just right. I did buy her a new one this year (in a size too big to get more use out of it) but she's complaining its too big so she's wearing the old one. Again, we just roll up the sleeves and you can't even tell they are too short. Jean jackets are great because she can wear it outside and inside too.

I always buy my girls a bunch of coordinating leggings to go with their dresses. I love to mix and match prints too! So, on a nice Spring day its dress, jean jacket, a pair of leggings and Kamryn is ready to go. Leggings are another thing, that as long as they don't rip holes in the knees (yanno being a kid), they can last you a couple years. Even if they are full length ones the next year they can fit like capri's!

For shoes she can wear some flat sneakers like these. Kamryn and I love a slip on sneaker for a few reasons. One shes not totally confident in tying her shoes just yet, so I don't have to worry about her being at school and having to do that. Two they are super easy to put on in a rush. Hello, the bus is coming....HURRY!!! And three she can wear them with or without socks and they still look cute.

On the really warm Spring days Kamryn loves to wear sandals instead of sneakers. Usually she'll wear something like this. Cute and stylish. I've found awesome sandals this year at Carters and Target. The ones below are Oshkosh.

I tend to buy her two pairs of sandals in the Spring that will usually last her all throughout the Summer too. And of course, a couple pairs of cheap flip-flops from Old Navy, because you can't go wrong with those. And if they break you don't care because they only cost you $2.

When Kamryn is at school and the weather is hot, because before you know it the temps go from chilly to blazing hot.... I like for her to cover her shoulders and with a tank top dress that isn't possible so instead of a jean jacket we go with a jean vest

Cute, right? She can wear this vest with dresses and rompers. With tanks and short sleeves, even long sleeves. It's so versatile and comfortable too.

Speaking of rompers. I love a good romper!

Adorable, right? So easy and so cute!! I found the one above at Carters.
I think I need it for all my girls!

Living in New England the seasons change so fast. Well, except Winter. Winter takes forever to go away. But once Spring hits the temps warm up but then also flip flop day to day. Sunday it was 80 degrees and 2 days later it was in the 40s. So I need stuff that can work in all kinds of weather. I don't know about you but my wallet cannot handle buying new clothes for every season so we stretch it. Quite literally actually. HA! I do 99% of my shopping online. I'm a stay at home mom which means my kids are with me 24/7. Shopping with 4 little ones is not high on my list of fun things to do. So online works much better. You can find so many sales and coupon codes while shopping online. I've been known to fill my cart at Old Navy with things we all need and leave it until a 40% off sale/coupon code pops up. Because 9 times out of 10 if I wait a couple days, there will be a 40% off sale. Carters too! They are always having BOGO sales and 50% off and sometimes more! Make sure to check back at their sites frequently or subscribe to them by email.

Thanks for reading and I hope this helped and gave you some good ideas.Have the best day!!

Next up in the clothes department .... a peak into Logan's Spring closet.

& Co.

Welcome to Kris Krumbs & Co. A totally new blog about all things Kristen.

On this blog you'll find my likes, dislikes, what I wear, what the kids wear, what we eat, what we do, where we go, etc etc. This is the perfect place for a busy mom on a budget to come and find ideas for wallet friendly everything. We are a family of 6, well 7 including my sister, living on one income and we do everything on a budget. In this day and age its easy to get sucked into the need for bigger and better everything and I'm here to show you that you really don't need all that to be happy. It's true that it's possible to live on a fairly strict budget and never have to feel like you are depriving yourself or your kids. And, to the outside eye you may not even look like you're cutting back. But that's not to say we don't splurge on some things. I'll share items I believe you should splurge on and why I think they are worth it.

My plan is to share the clothes we wear, and best of all I'll share when a really good sale is going on of said clothes. The food we eat, hello easy quick yummy recipes for the busy moms (and dads). How I eat, because recently I've changed that drastically to a much better diet. What we do...ideas to keep your kids busy, at home (mostly) and almost all those things are free OR really inexpensive. We have a lot of home improvements on the forever expanding honey-do-list and as those come together I'll share those too. How to throw a great birthday party (or 4 a year in my case) for your kids and not break the bank. Hair products, make up, skin care. Things as I've hit my thirties I'm realizing are important. I'll talk date nights and how Mike and I find alone time, with 4 needy kids, to keep our relationship fresh and fun. This blog will be a place where I talk about all the things that make my life come together at the end of the day.

I really think this is going to be fun! I've been missing blogging but definitely wanted to come at it in a totally different way if I came back.

But Kristen what's up with the name of this blog?
Well, my dad, my step mom, my brother and almost anyone who knows me from that side of the family calls me Krumbs. It's a nickname I got years ago. I was a REALLY messy eater as a kid. HA! So Kris Krumbs it is! And lets face it, this blog really will be all about Kris Krumbs & Company.

Here we go....
